About Karnataka High Court

The Karnataka High court was founded in the year 1881. It is basically situated at Bangalore which is the Capital state of Karnataka. The Governor-General of India Bentick granted commitment as well as presumed management of Mysore for East India Company on the affirmation that Raja was is not able of dealing with the circumstances of the State which was on October 21, 1831. Administration of Mysore was authorized to a Board of Commissioners which incorporated a Senior Commissioner in addition to a Junior Commissioner. This Board was made it easier for by Diwan in financial things as well as Resident in with political affiliations relations of the Ruler.  In June 1832, the Board was abolished and management of the State was engaged to a single Commissioner.

From the year 1831-1855 through this time, there were 5 grades of court for the administration of Justice in the state which includes Principle Sadr Munsiff, Amildar of taluk, The commissioner, Superidendent, Judges of the Huzur Adalat.

In the 14th, 15th and 17th centuries Coorg was staying influenced by petty chiefs known as Nayaks. In the 17th century the rulers of Haleri dynasty instantly set up their hold sway over the region of Coorg. Muddu Raja moved his capital from Haleri to Madikeri. Under the Government of India Act, 1919 Coorg was constituted as the Chief Commissioner’s Province with a legislative Council which includes selected as well as appointed members. After the Constitution of India emerged into force, Coorg grew to become Portion ‘C’ State.

There are 62 sanctioned strength in the Karnataka High Court. The current Acting Chief Justice of the High court is Justice Subhro  Kamal Mukherjee.
